“If to every part and organ of the body we find a reflex in the feet, then the extent to which any organ is functioning properly can be determined, by the tenderness this technique reveals on that particular reflex. If upon pressure of certain areas of the feet the person feels pain, we know that corresponding organ is affected”

Eunice Ingham (1889-1974)

We all experience some degree of stress in our daily lives, and whilst good stress leaves us feeling motivated and improves our mood, negative stress manifests in various ways from headaches and irritability, to tension in the body usually found in the neck, shoulders and lower back. As our body prepares to ‘fight or flight’, our immune systems can become compromised which can lead to illness.

At Therapy First we carry out an in-depth consultation prior to having any treatment, our therapist can help identify some of the areas which may require additional focus and dedicate more time to these points to help stimulate the body’s defences to bring you back towards balance. Additional aftercare advice is always offered at the end of every treatment.

Treatments range from Indian Head Massage using oils blended to your specific needs, Ear Candling, Holistic Massage, and Reflexology.

In the oil-based treatments, carrier oils are selected according to your skin type, or combined to provide the maximum benefits. Where Aromatherapy oils are used, all essential oils are of a high quality & where possible organic or wild-crafted.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a therapy in which pressure is applied to the reflex points on the feet and hands by the methodical application of gentle pressure by the therapist using fingers and thumbs over all areas of the client’s feet and ankles (or hands if appropriate).   It is based on the principle that these reflex points are related to the internal organs and glands and are laid out in the same arrangement as that in the physical body, forming a ‘mirror image’ of the body.  Pressure or palpation on a reflex point can therefore affect these structures.  Reflexology can help to reduce stress and releases negative tension and toxins from the body.  This treatment helps to stimulate the normal function of the organ involved and thus aids self-healing, bringing about physical and mental well-being.  Reflexology promotes and encourages total body relaxation and restful sleep, if you sleep well you function better. Reflexology may be suitable for all age groups.
