Senior Chartered Physiotherapist

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2010, having completed my BSc (Hons) degree at Salford University. I have gained broad experience within the National Health Service having worked in Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Outpatients and within Women’s Health Physiotherapy. In addition, for over six years I have been running the Therapy First Physiotherapy practice, managing patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sports and occupational injuries as well as women’s health conditions. I also undertake medico-legal case work from solicitors and medico-legal agencies.

From early childhood, I have suffered from a curvature of the spine, known as scoliosis. I have had regular physiotherapy treatment that has enabled me to minimise the damage in my spine and has equipped me with self-management strategies. This is one of the main reasons why I became a physiotherapist: I found physiotherapy and long-term tailored home exercises extremely effective and wanted to help people with similar conditions to mine. In my practice, I strive to assist clients to achieve their physical potential through manual treatment, postural and movement re-education as well as tailored home-exercise programmes.

Additional qualification in Sports Massage has allowed me to greatly improve my manual skills, which I believe is invaluable if one wants to be a good physical therapist. In 2012, a qualification gained in Acupuncture, has been an important addition to my skills.

In 2011, I qualified as a MODIFIED PILATES teacher through the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI), the only Pilates institute in Europe founded and directed by fully qualified physiotherapists. The modified Pilates method taught by the Institute is a reliable way to exercise, aimed at people of all ages and levels of fitness, those with chronic conditions such as arthritis or those who suffered musculoskeletal injuries as well as pregnant women. I also find inspiration from Callan Pinckney`s fitness regime–Callanetics–based on isometric exercise.

My physiotherapy background and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, combined with extensive training in remedial and rehabilitation exercises, enables me to tailor my treatment methods to an individual’s needs and within the abilities of my clients. As a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, I continue my personal development and education through specialist workshops and courses.

I have also recently trained in a revolutionary method of exercise known as HYPOPRESSIVES. It is a series of breathing exercises and yoga postures that work on the intrinsic (involuntary) core muscles and can dramatically improve your posture and have proven to help with diastasis recti post pregnancy, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence or other bladder issues, back pain as well as problems such as snoring or anxiety. If you would like to find out more about how this training can help you, please do get in touch.

I graduated from the University of Ulster in Belfast in 2019 and have gained a variety of experience in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological physiotherapy within the NHS, private physiotherapy clinics and sports teams.

I am currently undertaking an MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Manchester Metropolitan University through which I am extending my scope of practice to improve the quality of care for clients.

I am passionate about fitness and health and take a holistic approach combining manual therapy with exercise as appropriate in order to optimise clients health and well being.

Joseph Liddy

Physiotherapist

I am a qualified physiotherapist, having graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Salford. I am a Biomechanics PhD student at the University of Salford exploring muscle activation during running in relation to running related injuries. I was formerly part of the recovery massage team at Salford Red Devils Rugby Club providing therapy to the first team squad. I currently work at the Blackpool FC Academy and am part of their well renowned medical team. Working in the elite sporting environment has further improved my skills and expertise by focusing on injury prevention strategies including pre habilitation exercises and movement assessments.

My interest in physiotherapy started through playing competitive sports such as football, tennis and boxing from an early age and I have plenty of experience of needing the skills of a good physiotherapist. Therefore, I appreciate being on the other side for a patient/client point of view and know what clients expect in terms of providing exceptional care.

My interests and experiences have driven me to broaden my understanding of the various areas of health and fitness. Having worked through my own injuries, I understand that there is no single approach towards rehabilitation and being pain free.

I provide personalised treatment plans for each individual to get the best outcome possible. I am keen to help clients achieve optimum wellness for better health and improved wellbeing and keep them participating in what they love to do.

Zak Rudman

Physiotherapist

I qualified as a physiotherapist from Leeds Beckett University, achieving a first class honours and two dean prize awards for excellence in physiotherapy. Since then I have held multiple positions within the National Health Service across all major disciplines; Musculoskeletal (MSK), Neurological & Respiratory. I have also held senior private musculoskeletal positions, offering a wide range of services and enabling my patients to become pain free and confident in fearless movement.

I am currently actively working in the NHS as well as privately. My knowledge around physiotherapy and services has been recognised at a national level and I am a part of the national clinical expert reading register for the NHS England New Hospital Program. Something I take great pride in being a part of.

Within my private work I have advanced and widen my skill base to areas which are not always accessible in the NHS, my method of combining manual therapy and treatment modalities with that of coaching, education and personalised exercise prescription has achieved great results.

I am lucky to have an interest in all areas which physiotherapy covers. I use a person centred and holistic approach when treating MSK conditions, really find out what is important to my patients and offer everything I can to enable that to be achieved. No matter the issue at hand; sports injuries, rehabilitation, diagnostic assessment, lower back pain and much more, I will be more than happy to help anyone feel confident in movement and work towards getting the results they desire.

I am invested in delivering the best for my patients. Focusing on the real underlying cause of the problem along with addressing symptom relief, empowering my patients to take control of their health issues, enabling them to get back doing what they love and enjoy.

Alan Davey

Sports Massage Therapist

I am a qualified sports massage therapist who has a great passion in all aspects of high performance and recovery. I am Irish and currently a second-year physiotherapy student at the University of Salford. I also obtained a first-class honours in Health Science & Physiology prior to moving to Manchester to pursue my dream of becoming a physiotherapist. In addition I am a qualified fitness instructor. Some of my experiences include working with Salford Red Devils on a student placement and working with Manchester Futsal club as a sports massage therapist. I have also worked with multiple GAA teams and athletes back in Ireland.

My interest in physiotherapy stemmed from being deeply involved in playing elite sport in Ireland. I have always been in awe of the way the body works and I hope to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy once I qualify. To enhance recovery, a massage is a perfect way to unwind, whether you are in need of releasing some tension due to a stressful job or are in the middle of preparing for a big competition. A sports massage is a perfect way to help you achieve such goals.

A sports massage is not just for sports people! Whether you work a 9-5 in an office, are in construction or whatever you do, you can certainly benefit from a sports massage. Whether it is tight stiff shoulders, troublesome calves or an overall MOT, I am sure I can do my best to help!

I am very passionate about health and fitness. I love GAA & football and love to watch some Aussie Rules. I look forward to meeting you all and making you feel your best!
