We offer Shockwave Therapy in Salford Manchester at our MediaCity clinic. Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy (ECSWT) is the application of acoustic “shock waves” in the treatment of musculo-skeletal injury. The waves are of a controlled magnitude and pass through the skin to the affected area. They have been demonstrated to have therapeutic effects such as:

  • Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibres
  • Increase of blood circulation in surrounding soft tissues
  • Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibres

A normal course of treatment will consist of three sessions with no more than a two-week gap between sessions. More sessions could be considered for chronic conditions, however in milder cases even one session may be enough.

Chronic tendinopathies:

Muscular pathologies:

  • Myofascial syndrome (fibromyalgia excluded)
  • Injury without discontinuity

Wound healing:

  • Impaired wound healing

  • Salivary stones

Exceptional indications/expert indications:

  • Spasticity
  • Early-stage osteochondritis dissecans (OD) pre-skeletal maturity
